If you are in pursuit of a small-town celebration that has great entertainment, tasty foods and beverages, unique competitions, and plenty of country charm, then look no further. The Dallas Oktoberfest has been unsurpassed for 25 years and the people of Dallas are going all-out to make this Oktoberfest their personal best!

Come to Dallas on Saturday, Oct. 1, for a day that is filled with fun activities with a 5K autumn run (herbstlauf), pancake breakfast, car show, vintage baseball, dog costume contest, arts and crafts, music, wiener dog races, beer, brats, lefse, wood fired pizza and more.

Out of the starting gate is a newbie for this year’s Oktoberfest. The Pine Crest 5K Herbslauf (Autumn Run/Walk) beginning at 8 a.m. Indy Thompson, owner of the Pine Crest Golf Course said, “Our team is looking forward to being a part of a great tradition in Dallas and providing another avenue of enjoyment for all!” Sprint over to Pine Crest Golf Course to register early or the morning of the 5K out and back run. Registration is $15. For more information call Janet: 715-642-0104.

Fuel up with a good breakfast while supporting the local fire department. The Dallas-Sioux Creek Fire Department All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast runs from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Freewill donations will go towards firefighting equipment upgrades.

Local vendors have been going the distance by sewing, painting, knitting, crafting, and harvesting in preparation of the Arts & Crafts Fair and Farmers’ Market that runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Dallas Park. Stop by and visit with neighboring farmers selling their bountiful produce and local artisans with their hand-crafted goods. There is still room for more vendors. The fee is $15. Call Nicole at 715-418-0875.

The lines are being drawn and the pitch is being set for Dallas Oktoberfest 14th Edition Kubb Tournament. Teams from several states are vying for medals in an epic battle for the championship. This tournament is the second oldest and the only 6-person team tournament in the United States. Kubb is an ancient Scandinavian yard game that may have been played by Vikings. Still craving something more? Then rush to Ponytail Pizza next to the ball field for some wood fired pizza or go to the stand next to the brewery for some freshly made corndogs and bloomin’ onions.

Pick up more live music in the park pavilion with Polka Music by the Squires Band, an elite Twin Cities group with 45 years of experience playing a wide variety of music from polkas to classic rock from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

You’ll get a real kick at seeing all the different dogs dressed up in the Dog Costume Contest. Registration is at noon and the contest starts at 12:30 p.m. next to the brewery on the east side. The best-dressed doggy will receive a trophy and $50.
